Educate and Relate - The Facade Improvement Program
Mike Sutfin will provide an overview of the City’s ordinance process and some of the goals of the program. He will also highlight what business owners and building owners can do to take advantage of the matching funds made available through the City’s Downtown Façade Program, including providing some examples of low-cost building enhancements that match the goals of the program.
Incentive program sponsored by the City to encourage building owners/business owners to preserve/restore building facades (in the downtown area). The City will match 50/50 up to $5000 in expenses for this purpose. First step is to obtain an application from the City’s Community Development Department. Then, you begin the design review process via the ordinance. The first step in the design review ordinance is to present current pictures and proposed designs to the design review committee(consists of: Mayor, City Engineer, City Planner, Building Official and an architectural consultant). Here are some of the expenses that are covered by the matching funds: architectural/engineering fees, building materials, and labor.
The intention of the program is to restore and enhance downtown to its historical beauty.
